But that certainly does not mean I should. Where am I going with this? My hair has been cut. For the first time in over a year (it was getting a bit too hippie-esque). Anyway, I went way too far. My hairdresser also went way too far when she made the lone decision to chop my bangs off. I asked for a long bang, and would’ve loved a heads up before I looked up and saw my short little baby bangs, but alas… You know those hairdresser bangs? You definitely do. They’re short, and jagged, and edgy (although I obviously disagree, hello italics), anyway whatever they are they only work in haircut magazines, or haircut photo shoots; somewhere where ‘piecey’ cropped bangs look almost cool and not completely ridiculous. (You guessed it, mine look completely ridiculous.)
Tila was dying of laughter as I explained all the facets of my worst haircut to date (WORST), and even a Dove commercial caught me (again, while I was on the elliptical…stop laughing). Dove told me more than 50% of girls/women avoid social situations because of their appearance. I suppose right now I’m going against everything that started this blog, but never once did I discuss hair. Is hair different? Should I say screw it and rock my Liz-Lemon-Dealbreakers-era haircut? Probably. But suck it, I’m going to be self-conscious about this one thing, OKAY. Look to decapitated pictures or, as I pitched to my handy sidekick, “I can use Photoshop now, let’s just put your head on my body for the next month.” She’s not keen.
On to better and brighter haircuts:
These t-shirts are printed by my friend, Nathalie, from Queen’s. She’s just opened up a store on Etsy where she’s selling them. She’s really cool, like, super cool. Just one of those people who came out of the womb cool and never had to work at being cool like the rest of us suckers. Cool.
I love the look of the huge print on the t-shirts, it looks almost abstract, but you can still support your idol without it being too “graphic tee-y”. Another cool thing? She takes requests. I obviously jumped in with a flurry of old school designer names, and I’m very excited to see the upcoming Roger Vivier and Yves Saint Laurent ones. Who am I thinking of next? My short-haired idols of course: Liz Lemon and Ally McBeal.
P.S. Note the Coco Chanel tee has metallic foil for the ember of her cigarette, how slick would that look with some too-high heels, and blazer! (No pants obviously.)
Check it out: Print My Idol.
All for now, back to the domestic dispute with my fringe.
